Our Mission

Heart to Heart’s mission is to integrate mental health services into already existing programs and services in Park County, Wyoming. We provide safe, compassionate, holistic, professional, and individualized experiences by using evidence-based therapeutic practices for adolescents and young adults with SPMI (Severe Persistent Mental Illness). These practices will include alternative types of therapies, such as dance, sound, animal, and a variety of art therapies. Heart to Heart embraces our clients’ strengths, passions, talents, gifts, and purposes, assuring a healthy transition into adulthood and independent living.

In pursuit of our Mission, we strive to:

  • Improve the communities understanding of mental health and the mind-body connection.

  • Provide education on mental health in our community for individuals to identify early warning signs of SPMI.

  • Integrate mental health education into already existing programs within our community and add additional programs as needed.

  • Assure that those that request information and need mental health assistance have confidential access to the appropriate information and know where and how to obtain the care.

  • Provide education for adult daily living skills and case management services.

  • Advocate for improved support of treatment programs at the city, county, state, and federal levels.

Clinical Philosophy

The philosophy and practices of Heart to Heart are the foundations upon which our care is based. All services, whether they provide treatment, support, or education have this approach in mind. We are committed to the belief that everyone has the potential to live a healthy life and to not only realize, but to fulfill their hopes, dreams, and purpose.

We combine evidence-based treatments with trauma-informed principles as a care philosophy that maximizes the impact of positive outcomes for those we serve. We believe the care we provide is more than treatment. The care we provide is based on respect for our clients, which promotes client choice, empowerment, and respect for themselves.

Heart to Hearts approach is educational and supportive. We aim to help adolescents (13-17) and young adults (18-24) utilize their resources, their skills, and their passions. Our goal in therapy is to educate clients on their treatment options, refer to appropriate sources and help them know what to expect and how to deal with obstacles appropriately. The goal of each session is to teach coping skills, build insight, motivate self-learning, and encourage independence. Our ultimate goal is to empower our clients through knowledge and help them make informed decisions and realistically approach treatment. When we work with our clients who have SPMI we use forms of encouragement and positive reinforcement.

Real-World Model

Our approach to SPMI is that one-size-fits-all doesn’t apply. Each client will work with our Clinical Director, Cheri Kreitzmann to have programs created just for them. Starting, our Executive Director, Thea Farrington will be the program manager and create programs based on individual needs as well as work with local organizations to integrate mental health programs into their already existing programs.

Recreational Therapy

Heart to Hearts treatment philosophy is based on the understanding that each client has their own strengths, passions, talents, gifts, and purpose. Our all-inclusive therapy program focuses more on how our clients got to where they are rather than labeling them with a mental illness. Our team works to empower clients as they become more aware of who they are and the strengths, passions, and purpose that each of them possesses.

To accomplish this objective our programs are committed to the following principles –

  • Comprehensive Care

  • Personalized Treatment

  • Professional Excellence

Our Values

Our Values are set on the beliefs that guide our actions, behaviors, and programs created. They influence the way we treat our clients, engage with our community and work with our colleagues.

  • Every person, regardless of their age, disability, race, ethnicity, gender, economic status, or sexual orientation has the right to live a full potential life in our society, the right to be treated with love and compassion, respect and dignity free from stigma and prejudice.

  • Unless we promote community understanding of mental illness, plus tolerance and acceptance of people living with the illness, people will continue to avoid talking about mental illness and also avoid seeking help.

  • We fulfill our mission effectively when we collaborate within our community and actively look for partners to achieve our goals.

We recognize the achievement of our vision depends on the combined dedication, creativity, and compassion of our Board of Directors, Advisors, volunteers, community partners, and our clients.

To emphasize Our Values into 4 words they would be

  • Inclusive: All adolescents are Welcome in our meetings and during our therapy sessions. We will NOT discriminate based on disability, race, ethnicity, gender, economic status, or sexual orientation, nor will we allow bullying from peer to peer based on the above. There is a zero-tolerance policy on bullying.

  • Respect: The utmost respect will be shown to our clients, our volunteers, and to our community.

  • Community: In order for this program to work we must work alongside with programs already created in our community.

  • Integrity: We will uphold the highest integrity with all those we communicate with and all whose lives we touch.

Our Vision

To make mental health awareness more accessible, acceptable, and easier to talk about within Park County, before expanding into other cities, counties and states.
